Event sign-ups have been moved to the pack calendar at http://calendar.cfcpack39.org. Click on an event to view its description, which will have a sign-up link once it's available.

Remaining camp cards or money from sales need to be turned in at the next den meeting (4/11).

The Cub Scout Spring-a-Palooza at Camp La-No-Che is this weekend. This is not going to be a pack event, but you can sign up on your own. The camp will assign you to a campsite with anybody else from our pack who signed up and other smaller groups. You can sign up at https://scoutingevent.com/083-SpringAPalooza.

Our raingutter regatta and field day will be held April 23 at 3 PM at Lake Mills Park pavilion 1. More volunteers are needed for setup/teardown and running activities. Let John or Alex know if you are interested. If you haven't received a kit yet, they are available through your den leader. If your Scout needs help with building their boat, let your den leader, John, or Alex know and we'll make sure you get help.

The Central Florida Council Centennial Camporee at Camp La-No-Che is 5/13-15. This will be our last pack campout until next school year. For more information, see https://www.camplanoche.com/cfc100/.

Seminole District's Wild West day camp will be held 6/20-6/24 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Lake Mary. You will receive more information at the next (4/11) den meeting.

If you haven't signed a permission form for using your Scout's pictures on our pack website or Facebook page, let Matt Walsh, John, or Alex know. If you would not like your Scout's photos used, please let one of us know as well. Please like our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/CentralFloridaPack39 if you haven't done so yet.

We are beginning planning our summer activities and next year's program. Let Alex know if you want to be included on the planning email list. We will also be working on planning during our committee meetings starting in May. We will be planning our budget, weekend activities such as hikes and campouts, and pack meetings. All parents are encouraged to sign up for the planning email list and to attend committee meetings, even if you just want to observe.

Let John or Alex know if you are interested in helping out next year as a committee member, assistant den leader, or assistant cubmaster next year. We currently have a great group of volunteers that have helped the pack run a great program this year, and would like more help to make it even better next year.

Reminder that the Pinewood Derby is this Saturday at Double R school. Weigh ins start at 2:30, and we expect that the race will start around 3:30. We need some more volunteers for setup/teardown and running the race. Let me know if you’re able to help. We’ll be starting setup around 1. Don’t feel bad if you waited until the last minute and still need access to tools for building your car. Contact John at heloace1@outlook.com and he’ll make sure you get help.

We will be camping at Spruce Creek Park in Port Orange on March 25-27. You can sign up at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a0e4eadaa2ba1f58-moss

Ace Hardware in Avalon is available for Camp Card show and sells on April 2, April 3, and April 24. Please send me an email if you want to participate in show and sells on any of those days. Before setting up a schedule, I want to see if there’s any interest in doing an additional show and sells. Keep in mind that Scouts who participate in a few hours of fundraising per year will not owe anything for dues.

There is a Seminole District sponsored fishing event on April 2 at 8:30 AM at Fort Mellon park in Sanford by Lake Monroe. If you would like to participate, you can register at https://scoutingevent.com/083-SeminoleDistrictCubScoutFamilyFishingDerby.

The items below are events that are coming up in the near future and distant future as wells as updates on items discussed at our Committee meeting.

Daytona Scout Days Campout: January 21st through 23rd Alex and Rob B. will try and get there early enough to hold a good sized camp site. Please reach out to either and they will send a Pin of the location.

Blue and Gold Banquet: February 12th @ Lake Mills Park 2pm at Pavilion 4, this will be a time of celebration and activities for the pack. It celebrates the Founding of the Cub Scouts. We will provide more details as we get closer. If you would like to assist with this event please reach out to Stephanie Leardi.

Pinewood Derby: March 5th, we are still working on a location to host this event but we will be indoors this year. The Scouts have been issued their cars at the last pack meeting but if you did not receive yours get with your den leaders and they can supply them. Parents and siblings if you would like to participate in the fun of building and racing please bring $15 to the next den/pack meeting. The cost of the cars will help with awards and trophies for the Scouts. I hope everyone’s as excited as me…Start your engines…

Moss Park Campout 3/25 through 3/27 . If you haven’t been to this park it is really great. There is a large lake for fishing, trails for hiking, and lots of wildlife, the deer will come right up to you (please don’t feed or try to pet the animals). There is also nice restroom/shower facilities as well. If anyone is able we are looking for some activity ideas and volunteers to assist with them. Signups can be done through the following link: events.cfcpack39.org

Fishing: John is still waiting to hear back from FWC about doing a pack fishing trip to a stocked pond. When I hear back I will provide more information about this event.

Camp Cards: thanks to Marsha for helping out with setting up or Camp Card show and sells. The dates and locations are as follows: 2/5 Avalon Ace, 2/13 & 2/19 UCF Ace, 2/26 Dicks Sporting Goods Waterford. Please look at signing up for these dates and help build your scouts credit for future costs. The Pack will receive $2.50 from every card sold, $0.50 goes to the pack and $2.00 goes to the Scout’s account. If you have any questions feel free to reach out to Alex, Matt or John. You can signup at the link provided: events.cfcpack39.org.

T-Shirts: the shirt order is being fulfilled as we speak and will be issued out by next meeting. I will try to get with Alex and hand out the ones for those going to the Daytona Camp out so we can represent Pack 39 with Pride.

Pack Trailer: the trailer has had a few repairs done to make it better for longer trips, thank you Alex. There will be more repairs needed and will be done as soon as we can so we can have better organization for all our supplies and the ability to pack Scout supplies for camping trips as well.

Thank you for all your support and continued service to our Scouts. This is going to be an exciting year and we are looking forward to watching the Scouts grow through their journey to becoming the example of what Scouts are all about. Please continue to look at the calendar cfcpack39.org for events and check Scoutbook for other messages and resources. Have a great week.

Our January 10 pack meeting will be at Lake Mills Park at 6:30. We’ve reserved campsite 6, but we will use group site #5 if it’s available. This is after the park is closed, so a gate code will be sent out Monday in case it’s locked. The Webelos are going to start the campfire, so they should arrive at 6:15 if possible.

We will be participating in the Martin Luther King, Jr. day parade on January 17. We’ll meet at Oviedo High at 9:30. Sign up at http://events.cfcpack39.org/. We need a volunteer to make a banner or signs for the parade. Let Alex know if you can help with this.

The Daytona campout is January 21-23. If you’re not camping but would like to go for a single day, you can buy single day tickets from the link at http://events.cfcpack39.org/. There are also still weekend tickets available on the site if you didn’t pay earlier but still want to go.

Nick got our pack some plants donated by Bonnie Plants. If you didn’t get a couple plants yet, contact your den leader. Lions should contact Alex. Each age level has an adventure that has a requirement to care for a plant. Check with your Scout's den leader so see whether you'll be working on the adventure at meetings or if you should complete them at home. The plant related adventures are below. If you don't have a handbook, you can find current requirements at https://www.boyscouttrail.com/cub-scouts/

Lions - Ready, Set, Grow
Tigers - My Tiger Jungle
Wolves - Grow Something
Bears - Fur, Feathers, and Ferns
Webelos - Into the Woods and Adventures in Science

Go to Event Sign-up on http://cfcpack39.org to pay for tickets for the Daytona campout (1/21 - 1/23). There's a Square fee of less than $1/person if you pay online. You can also pay $30 per person by cash or check at Monday's den meeting. Checks should be made out to Cub Scout Pack 3039.

Payment has to be submitted by 12/15.

If you need to borrow a tent, stove, or other camping equipment let Alex know.

Reminder that BSA youth protection rules only allow a Scout to share a tent with immediate family members or other Scouts within 2 years of their age.

Everybody needs to submit a BSA health form. This is especially important for Scouts and siblings, more so if they have severe allergies or medical conditions. You can get the form from here: https://filestore.scouting.org/filestore/HealthSafety/pdf/680-001_AB.pdf

September 24-26 Campout Details

9/22/2021

The campout this weekend will be at Mullet Lake Park in Geneva. SignUpGenius had the old location listed, but it is at Mullet Lake Park. We'll be in the group site in the back of the camping area.

You can still camp if you didn't RSVP since we have enough room. If you want to camp but don't have a tent, we have some that you can borrow. Let me know in advance though so I can bring one. Even if you aren't camping, feel free to come by just for the day on Saturday. We'll be doing activities in the late afternoon on Saturday and will have a campfire in the evening, so if aren't camping but want to come by that would be a good time.

Bring shoes and clothes for the kids that can get wet, because we'll be doing some games where they'll get wet. The campground is right by the St. John's river, so you might want to bring fishing poles. Webelos should bring their pocketknives.

Scouts are also encouraged to have a friend come visit on Saturday during the campout.

We will be having a pack meeting on Monday 9/13 at 6:30 PM. Scouts should wear class A uniforms and are encouraged to bring a friend who might be interested in Scouting.

Camp La-No-Che Cub Halloween is October 15-17. The signup link is on the pack website under Event Sign-Up.

Thanks,
