Volunteer Opportunities
We are still looking for help with the following:Assistant Den Leaders: We need assistant den leaders for Lions, Bears, and Webelos 1. Assistant Den Leaders help the den leader with planning and running meetings and fill in for the den leader in their absence. Take the den leader training and get familiar with all of the rank requirements in advance.
NOVA Counselor: Give Scouts the opportunity to earn the Cub Scout NOVA STEM awards. See https://www.scouting.org/stem-nova-awards/awards/cub-scout/. You should have a degree or work experience in a STEM related area and will need to take NOVA training. The NOVA awards are not required for any rank, but we want to make them available to any Scouts who are interested in earning them. We can dedicate a pack meeting to working on NOVA, but most of the meetings would be done outside of the normal den and pack meetings. Alex is a NOVA counselor and can assist you if needed. Religious Emblems Coordinator: Give Scouts the opportunity to earn the religious emblem for their faith. See https://www.scouting.org/awards/religious-awards/. You can be the coordinator for a specific emblem or for all of them. All of the meetings for religious emblems would be done outside of pack and den meetings. Community Service: We're looking to add a couple pack community service projects beyond Scouting for Food this year. This could be something we do during a pack meeting or it could be something we do outside of our meetings to benefit others. Let us know what ideas you have or how you can help. Pack Meetings: We're looking for activity ideas, people to bring in, or places to go for our January 9, February 6, March 6, April 3, and May 1 pack meetings. Keep in mind that it will be dark during the January, February, and March pack meetings. We're looking to do some kind of orienteering activity for the March or April pack meetings, so let us know if you can help with that. Additional Weekend Activities: If you have ideas for anything that isn't currently planned, let us know. It could be something we do during the day or something we do overnight. We don't have any campouts scheduled after the beginning of April since it gets hot, but we could add an additional overnight somewhere that we can sleep in the AC. We've talked about the overnight programs that Kennedy Space Center and the Sanford zoo have. If you'd like to help with arranging either of those or have similar ideas, let us know. |
